WELCOME TO MOVEMENT ACADEMY

A 1-on-1 coaching program built around your own mind body connection —giving you a clear personalized framework that empowers you to take ownership for your own recovery and performance so you can chase your dreams & boost your longevity instead of constantly managing old injuries.

Hi, I’m Dr. Eric Schulte

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the founder & CEO of Movement Academy—a 1-on-1 coaching program designed to help people in San Diego who want to improve their mind-body connection, recognize what their body needs, and become the type of person who can stay active for the long term.

I help others navigate the same challenges I went through for years — thinking pain meant I was hurting myself, not knowing how to exercise without making things worse, and losing trust and confidence in my body.

After years of seeking solutions, reading long blogs that created more questions than answers, and spending thousands of dollars on medical appointments, I discovered what I was missing; that the mind and body weren’t aligned on how to live a long, healthy life. So that is exactly what I built with Movement Academy — a program that gives you the guidance and clarity you’ve been craving between both your mind AND your body.

My clients are supported through a combination of in-person sessions, custom workout routines, digital coaching support, and a plan that evolves as you improve they make progress. So if you’re tired of feeling your confidence dwindle and the uncertainty become more confusing, reach out to get in touch with me by clicking below to request to book a phone call with me.

What we do

Movement Academy identifies the primary barriers that may exist between the mind and body. By looking at your history, past injuries, your beliefs about pain, and your choices around movement we can identify what gaps we need to fill between mind and body to restore confident movement. Once we’ve established what your body needs from your mind and what you mind needs from your body, we can build a custom plan built just for your and your nervous system. Your plan is broken into 3 month increments to allow us to focus on specific goals and objectives that give you the skills to get moving now and know how to stay moving for the long haul.

How It Works

It takes time for the mind and body to build a strong connection. I custom build your Movement Academy program to ensure you have the time, space, and lifestyle to start to strengthen this connection. Your plan is broken into 3 month increments with clear goals and objectives for you to achieve. Once you are ready to take on new goals, we work together to update your plan so you can continue to do more of the movement you want to do.

PHASE ONE:

Share Your Goals

  • Before you begin, Dr. Eric takes time to understand what you’ve been through, what you care about most, and what is the most important thing to work on first. Your journey begins with a series of complimentary 1:1 phone calls to ensure you’re a good candidate for the program.

PHASE TWO:

Complete Assessment

  • The 75 minute in person assessment is all about getting clarity about where you are starting and what you need to work on to get you moving toward your goals.

By the end of your assessment you should feel clear on how your mind and body are communicating about old injuries, poor balance, lack of trust, or decreased strength. Based on our findings, you will be given a summary and a framework for how we would build your program to guide you to your goals.

PHASE THREE:

Sign Up For Your Custom Program

  • The biggest reason Dr. Eric wasn’t able to reach his goals sooner is that he didn’t have a custom program that he could follow that would adapt and adjust as his mind and body connection changed and evolved. That is why Movement Academy is built to support you and keep you moving toward your goals. In 3 month increments you will work directly with Dr. Eric 1-on-1 and in person to train your mind-body connection and to create the lifestyle that supports strong and confident movement for the long haul.

  • Dr. Schulte saved my shoulder from a major surgery by diagnosing two weak shoulder muscles and designing an exercise program to build those muscles up. He is the most knowledgeable person in the industry when it comes to the shoulder. In addition, he has a great understanding of all the joints in the human body. I highly recommend him.

He’s not only incredibly thorough and comprehensive in his approach, but is insanely knowledgeable and such a pleasure to work with. He’s helped me both from a patient perspective and as a professional colleague and I am so impressed with his skillset and approach to care. Given my job, I spend a lot of time looking down with rounded shoulders. Upon assessment, he gave me simple but challenging exercises that have been a total game-changer for how I feel every day. He introduced tools and techniques that worked for me and that I’ve adapted as a part of my daily regimen. • I had been in pain and discomfort for about 2 years. Unable to do most activities beyond walking, but it had finally morphed my body into a twisted state and my life was becoming unmanageable. Dr. Schulte was recommended to me by a friend and I couldn’t be happier. Within a few weeks, I was able to begin to feel normal and rejuvenated. Highly recommend! He is very thorough and really explains what is going on and provides specific video instructions to follow.

  • I had been experiencing a sharp pain in my right knee. I was rushing around and remembered taking a larger than usual step, which created a pulling sensation in my groin. The next thing I noticed was a stabbing pain in my knee at random times, but usually while trying to sleep. I explained all of this to Dr. Schulte, and he immediately zeroed in on the issue. He gave me some stretching exercises and recommended using heat and a topical medication for the pain. Everything he recommended worked wonders and I can sleep again, uninterrupted with that painful knee pain. Dr. Schulte not only solved my pain issue—he did it with a caring and patient bedside manner. If I could give him 10 ⭐s I would. I highly recommend Dr. Schulte.

  • I had been dealing with chronic shoulder pain stemming from my shoulder blade for quite some time. I had seen a couple of other physical therapists in the past, but unfortunately, none were able to pinpoint the root cause of the issue. Without a clear diagnosis or explanation, the treatments these other PTs offered did not show much improvement. That changed when I was recommended to Dr. Eric. I figured it was worth getting a third opinion—and I’m so glad I did. From the very first session, Dr. Eric took a thoughtful and detailed approach. He clearly explained what was going on with my shoulder, how the pain was originating, and laid out a step-by-step plan for recovery. It was the first time I felt like someone truly understood the issue and had a concrete strategy to address it. I was dealing with winged scapular. He spent over an hour with me during our initial appointment, showed the muscles involved with this issue and the treatment for them. He followed up with a text a few days later to check in—which really showed me his commitment to his patients. Now, about a month and a half later, I’m seeing real progress. My shoulder is getting stronger, the pain has significantly reduced, and I finally feel like I’m on the right path to full recovery. Dr. Eric’s approach is not only informative and thorough, but also compassionate. It’s clear that he takes a genuine personal interest in helping his patients heal. I’m incredibly grateful to have found him—thank you, Dr. Eric!

  • High quality and personalized PT! I partially tore my MCL and Meniscus and I was able to go backpacking and rock climbing 2 months later! Would highly recommend!

  • I’ve had many physical therapists over the past 20 years, but no one as good as Eric. He listens to my concerns and addresses them. He has a hands-on approach which I really enjoy. I couldn’t be more pleased to have Eric. As my physical therapist, he is the best.

  • I recently had my very first session with Dr. Eric. For starters, I have seen a few physicians for my knee pain and somehow still had no answers. Dr. Eric gave me his undivided attention for over an hour. He listened to every detail and asked specific questions to get to the root of my issue. After our discussion and his examination of my body, I finally received an explanation and plan of care. I have never encountered a healthcare professional who is so passionate about his work—he truly wants to help. I am super excited to work with Dr. Eric further and take this important step for my health.
